Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, under the dynamic leadership of
Principal Dr. Mrs. Ekta Khosla, organized a highly motivating expert talk on
“Entry of Women as Officers in the Armed Forces” in which Col. Viplove,
Director Recruitment, Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Jalandhar Cantt., was the
keynote speaker. The programme commenced with the ceremonial escort of the
guest by NCC cadets, followed by the traditional lamp lighting and formal
welcome. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from NCC Army and Air
Wing cadets along with UG students under the guidance of Lt. Sonia Mahindru and
Mrs. Purnima. During the session, Col. Viplove elaborated on why the Armed
Forces is an excellent career option for women, highlighting personal growth,
economic stability, attractive allowances, and the high social status
associated with the uniform. He also familiarized students with the use of
advanced and modern technology in the Armed Forces, especially emphasizing the
wide scope and advantages available for students from technical backgrounds. He
explained the avenues of Permanent Commission through NDA (10+2) and Short
Service Commission after graduation through UPSC for Technical, Non-Technical
and JAG branches, followed by SSB. The speaker further discussed the numerous
benefits of a career in the Armed Forces, including a life full of adventure
along with opportunities for holistic personality development. An interactive query session allowed cadets
and students to clarify their doubts. Sergeant Pahul Jabal and Sergeant Archita
Magotra of the Army Wing efficiently conducted the stage proceedings. UO Sania
and UO Sneha presented the vote of thanks, while Sergeant Bharti Kumari of the
Air Wing shared the feedback on the talk. Principal Dr. Khosla honoured the
resource person with a green planter and a shawl as a token of gratitude, and
Col. Viplove presented a memento to the Principal.
The programme proved to be highly motivating and informative, inspiring young
women to take up challenging and prestigious careers in the Armed Forces.
