The Internal Quality Assurance Cell
(IQAC) of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a lecture on ‘English
Pronunciation’ under Faculty Lecture Series. The PG Department of English
organized this lecture. The resource person of the workshop was Mr. Neeraj
Aggarwal, Assistant Professor in English in the PG Department of English. Dr.
Mamta, Head English Department and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Ashmeen Kaur welcomed him
with a green planter. Mr. Aggarwal provided an overview of all the four fields
of language, i.e. spelling, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar of British,
American, and Indian English. He emphasized the need of correct pronunciation
of every letter of English alphabet at the early stage of every learner. He
also put stress on the extensive practice of forty-six English weak-form words
in daily pronunciation. In addition, he also touched upon the concepts of
‘collocation’ and ‘tautology’ in English language. He also had an interactive
session with the participants. This dedicated question and answer session
allowed participants to clarify their doubts. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs) Ajay
Sareen appreciated the efforts of IQAC and PG Department of English and said that
all the varieties of English pronunciation are important in the noble
profession of teaching. This lecture was the need of the hour. The stage was conducted
by Mrs. Protima Mander. All the teachers of the college were present there.
