SSC II Session 2026–27 Begins with Auspicious Havan Ceremony

 

The sacred Havan Ceremony marking the commencement of the academic session 2026–27 for SSC II at HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School was conducted with great reverence and spiritual fervour under the esteemed leadership of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla. The auspicious beginning of the session filled the atmosphere with positivity, enthusiasm, and divine vibrations. Students and faculty members participated wholeheartedly, chanting holy mantras in unison and invoking the blessings of the Almighty for a successful and enlightening academic journey ahead. Principal Prof. Dr. Ekta Khosla addressed the gathering with a note of felicitation, highlighting that the new academic session holds special significance as HMV steps into its Centennial Year. In a symbolic expression, she explained that the onset of the month of April signifies a transition in weather, reflecting the dynamic energy within individuals, which must be channelled wisely towards achieving success.  In her inspiring address, she urged the students to cultivate discipline, self-control, and perseverance, and to strive for excellence in all their endeavours. She blessed them to spread goodness and positivity, much like the divine essence of the havan, and to bring pride to their parents, teachers, and the nation. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and School Advisor, congratulated the students on the commencement of the new academic session and emphasized that success is attained through focused determination, consistent hard work, and the blessings of elders. She laid special emphasis on the importance of time management, describing time as the most valuable asset in an individual’s life, and urged students to utilise it judiciously for achieving their goals. Mrs. Arvinder Kaur, School Coordinator, highlighted the importance of nurturing devotion, passion, and love in young minds. On this occasion,  Sh. Ravi Maini, Superintendent Admin, Sh. Pankaj Jyoti, Accounts Superintendent, Mrs. Seema Joshi , General Office Superintendent were also present. The Havan Ceremony culminated with the recital of the Shanti Path by Dr. Meenu Talwar, spreading an aura of peace and harmony. The event witnessed the gracious presence of all members of the collegiate faculty, both teaching and non-teaching staff along with the supporting staff and students, making it a truly serene and memorable beginning to the new academic session.

HMV Organized Youth Parliament to Foster Democratic Values and Global Awareness

 

Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized  Youth Parliament for the first time on its campus under the visionary guidance and inspiring leadership of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. The event was organized by the PG Department of Political Science with the objective of nurturing democratic spirit, political awareness, and responsible citizenship among students. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from Divya, Jahnavi, Simranjit Kaur,Mehak,Simran Bajwa, Manya, Taneja,Pawani,Aditi Narula,Himanshi,Pahul Jabal, Akanshi Kumari, Suhani Sharma,Tanvi,Sukhman Kaur Kalra , and Alfisha , the UG students of the Department of Political Science, who thoughtfully and confidently presented the Zero Hour of Parliament. The session centered around the ongoing Middle East war situation, where students expressed their informed perspectives with maturity and sensitivity. Through this simulated parliamentary discussion, the young participants highlighted India’s age-old philosophy of peace, harmony, and “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”—the belief that the whole world is one family. The Youth Parliament also emerged as a strong platform to voice concerns and support for women’s rights and dignity across the globe, reflecting the social consciousness and progressive outlook of today’s youth. The Zero Hour commenced with 35 young speakers, each contributing meaningfully to the debate and showcasing remarkable oratory skills, awareness, and confidence. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla appreciated the initiative and said that Youth Parliament is not merely a mock session; it is a powerful platform to nurture awareness, responsibility, and leadership among young minds. Such activities help students understand the democratic framework of our nation and encourage them to become thoughtful, informed, and responsible citizens. The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Alka, Head, PG Department of Political Science, and Dr. Jiwan Devi, Assistant Professor in Political Science, who appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to remain informed, expressive, and active participants in the democratic process. The programme proved to be an enriching academic exercise that not only familiarized students with the functioning of Parliament but also inspired them to become thoughtful citizens and future leaders of the nation.

Traffic Police Jalandhar held a Road Safety Awareness Programme at HMV

 

 To sensitize students about the importance of road safety and responsible civic behaviour, the Traffic Police Jalandhar (Education Cell) organized a Road Safety Awareness Programme at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla. The event was held in collaboration with the college’s Red Ribbon Club, NSS, and Red Cross Society. The programme featured Mr. Shamsher Singh, Incharge, Education Cell, Traffic Police Jalandhar, and Sardar Ranjit Singh, Former Inspector, Traffic Police Jalandhar, as the key speakers. Mr. Shamsher Singh highlighted the importance of following traffic rules and adopting safe driving practices. He emphasized the need for wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, and strictly refraining from driving under the influence of intoxicants. He stated that even minor negligence on the road can lead to serious accidents and stressed that every citizen must act responsibly while using public roads. Sardar Ranjit Singh educated the students about traffic signals, road discipline, and safe driving behaviour. He urged the students to become responsible road users and to spread awareness about road safety among their families and communities. In her message, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla said that educational institutions play an important role in shaping not only the academic growth of students but also their sense of social responsibility and civic awareness. She remarked that road safety has become a pressing concern in today’s time and such awareness initiatives help in nurturing responsible and law-abiding citizens. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the Traffic Police Jalandhar team for their valuable contribution. Students participated enthusiastically and pledged to follow traffic rules and promote road safety in their daily lives. Students of Colleges of Jalandhar attended Workshop at HMV

 

PG Department of Zoology of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organized a highly informative ‘Workshop on Medical Lab Technology’ in collaboration with Synergy Lab., Jalandhar under the expert guidance of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. The event commenced with a warm welcome of the distinguished resource persons, Dr. Deeksha, Director and Consultant Pathologist at Synergy Lab., and Mr. Jagjiwan and Ms. Peher, Senior Lab Technicians at Synergy Lab. Dr. Deeksha, delivered an insightful lecture and elaborated on various haematological techniques performed in laboratories, detailing their procedures, quality control measures and necessary precautions. She also explained key aspects of histological analysis, enabling students to understand the scientific accuracy and precision required in diagnostic practices. Further enriching the workshop, Mr. Jagjiwan and Ms. Peher conducted hands-on training session. Participants were given practical exposure to a variety of laboratory techniques including staining of blood smears, ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate), and separation of serum and plasma from blood samples. Experiments such as paper chromatography, thin layer chromatography and gel electrophoresis, were also demonstrated by Dr. Sakshi  Verma and Mr. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professors, PG Department of Zoology and conveners of the workshop, making the session highly interactive and skill-oriented. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various colleges accompanied by their teachers, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla appreciated the efforts of the organizers and emphasised on the importance of such workshops, which play important role in skill development and in preparing students to meet industry demands. Dean Academics and Head of PG Department of Zoology, Dr. Seema Marwaha, while addressing the gathering highlighted that such collaborative initiatives provide valuable exposure and help bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical application. . Lab technician Mr. Sachin and student volunteers from B.Sc. Medical managed all the arrangements, ensuring the workshop was conducted smoothly.

HMV organised Five-Day Management Development Programme on Financial Management

 

The Planning Forum (PG Department of Economics) of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, successfully organized a Five-Day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Financial Management under the E-SDP (Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme) Scheme of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.The objective of the programme was to enhance students’ understanding of financial management concepts, business finance, and practical financial decision-making, thereby equipping them with essential knowledge and skills for academic and professional growth. The event was organized under the visionary leadership of the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla, whose constant encouragement and support played a significant role in the successful conduct of the programme. The sessions were efficiently supervised by the Head, PG Department of Economics, Dr. Shallu Batra, with the dedicated support of faculty members Mrs. Jyotika, Ms. Harmanu, and Ms. Shruti, who actively contributed to the academic planning and smooth execution of the workshop. The programme was coordinated by Mr. P. K. Verma, whose meticulous planning, and execution ensured the smooth conduct of all sessions and activities throughout the five days. The technical sessions were delivered by resource person Mr. Rishabh Jain, Practicing Chartered Accountant and LLM Professional, who shared valuable insights into various dimensions of financial management with a perfect blend of theoretical understanding and practical application. The Planning Forum students, including Dhra, Himani, Jaya, along with Mauli, Tania, and Neetika, played an enthusiastic and responsible role in coordinating the programme. They assisted in registrations, session arrangements, discipline, punctuality, and overall logistics, ensuring seamless interaction between participants and the resource person.During the five-day programme, students were introduced to a wide range of topics in financial management such as business finance, good and bad debt, capital structure, cash flow versus profit, fixed and variable costs, break-even analysis, and working capital management. The sessions also highlighted capital budgeting techniques, especially Net Present Value (NPV), along with detailed discussions on stock market dynamics, regulatory framework, role of banks, government budgets, public expenditure, fiscal deficit, inflation, recession, and economic slowdown. The programme proved to be highly enriching and beneficial in enhancing students’ financial awareness, analytical abilities, and ethical financial decision-making, thereby contributing meaningfully to their academic, professional, and personal development. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, followed by a formal vote of thanks, marking the successful completion of the event.

PG Department of Psychology of HMV organized One Day Workshop

 

The Freudian Psychological Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized an insightful workshop titled “Psychology in Action: Empowering Generation Z” under the visionary guidance of Principal Dr. Mrs. Ekta Khosla. The workshop was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about the dynamic role of psychology in understanding and empowering the youth of today. The distinguished resource person for the session was Dr. Jeshtha Angrish, Scientist ‘C’ at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). She was formally welcomed by the Head of the Department, Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, along with faculty members, through the presentation of a green planter as a token of respect and gratitude. The session was thoughtfully structured into four comprehensive segments, covering Generation Z, the scope of psychology as a discipline, applications of psychology in diverse domains, and an engaging interactive question-and-answer round. Dr. Angrish elaborated on the unique challenges and remarkable capabilities of Generation Z, emphasizing that while Gen Z possesses immense potential, capability without psychological depth often leads to exhaustion. She highlighted that psychology not only serves as an academic discipline but also functions as a practical toolkit for life, transforming raw capability into sustainable competence. Further, she shed light on the vast scope of psychology across clinical, counselling, educational, forensic, and various other emerging fields. The importance of psychological assessment and the careful selection of appropriate tools in professional practice was also discussed in detail. Enriching the session further, Dr. Angrish shared her personal experiences, inspiring students to approach the discipline with clarity, responsibility, and purpose. Principal Dr. Mrs. Ekta Khosla appreciated the initiative taken by the department and encouraged students to actively engage in such intellectually stimulating platforms. The event was skillfully anchored by Ms. Pahul Jabal and Jhanavi, and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Ashmeen Kaur, Head of the Department of Psychology. More than 150 students participated enthusiastically in the workshop, along with faculty members Ms. Priya, Ms. Nandita Sharma, Ms. Ishamanpreet Kaur, and Mrs. Gurpreet from the Department of Psychology,and ANO Ms Sonia Mahendru, Incharge NCC ,from the Department of Computer Science , making the workshop a meaningful and impactful experience and making the event a resounding success.

The PG Department of Cosmetology of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, successfully organized a one-day workshop on Eyelash Extension for its students under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla. The workshop was aimed at equipping students with practical knowledge and professional expertise in one of the most sought-after beauty services in the cosmetology industry. The workshop was conducted by renowned Permanent Makeup Artist Ms. Kajal from Nail Art School, Jalandhar, who shared her valuable industry experience and technical knowledge with the students. The session was designed to provide hands-on training and practical exposure in the latest techniques of eyelash extension, helping students stay updated with current beauty and wellness trends. During the workshop, Ms. Kajal gave a detailed demonstration of the step-by-step procedure of eyelash extension, covering important aspects such as client consultation, selection of lash types, application techniques, safety precautions, hygiene standards, and aftercare guidelines. She also guided students through essential professional practices including correct isolation technique, proper adhesive usage, lash mapping, and the creation of different lash styles such as classic, volume, and hybrid lash extensions. The session proved to be highly interactive and informative as students actively participated in the hands-on training, clarified their doubts, and gained valuable insights into the professional world of lash artistry and permanent makeup. Ms. Kajal also highlighted common mistakes to avoid, while emphasizing the significance of professional ethics, precision, and client safety in cosmetology services. Such skill-based initiatives play an important role in bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical industry requirements, thereby enhancing the employability and confidence of students. Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla appreciated the sincere efforts of the department for organizing a career-oriented and skill-enhancing workshop.
