The
Freudian Psychological Society of PG Department of Psychology of Hans Raj
Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar held a workshop titled "Decoding
Emotions." The event was organized under the able guidance of Principal
Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and featured Ms. Harshita Paul, a Counselor and the
founder of Satvikta, as the Resource person. Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head of the P.G.
Department of Psychology, along with other faculty members, formally welcomed
Ms. Paul. Ms. Paul began the session with a story, which she used to illustrate
how various brain structures contribute to emotional regulation. Throughout the
workshop, she emphasized to the students that there are no "right" or
"wrong" emotions, as feelings are subjective experiences. The
workshop included several interactive activities to help students explore their
emotional responses. Participants were asked to identify and write down the
three emotions they experience most frequently, and they also participated in
an activity called "emotional hijack." Other engaging segments
included a rapid-fire question round and a reflection activity. Principal Prof Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen praised the
Freudian Psychological Society for organizing the workshop, highlighting the
importance of promoting awareness and understanding of emotions. The event was
anchored by Ms. Sahejpreet Kaur and Ms. Yagima Sawhney, and Ms. Priya Seth
delivered the vote of thanks. The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from
over 100 students from various academic streams, as well as faculty members
from the Department of Psychology, including Ms. Nandita Sharma, Ms.
Ishamanpreet Kaur and Mrs. Gurpreet.
