Banding together women to work
for gender parity Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised a majestic event to
celebrate 109th International Women’s Day under the vibrant guidance
of Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen. The Dainik Savera group hosted the Women Awards 2020 to enhance
the grandeur of the day and honoured a galaxy of empowered women for their
unprecedented achievements. Invoking the blessings of the Almighty the event began with the lighting of
lamp followed by recital of DAV Anthem and Saraswati Vandana.
Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen tendered
a green welcome to Mrs Laxmi Kanta Chawla (Former Cabinet Minister), Mrs Rajni
Bector, Mrs. Shruti Shukla (State Co-ordinator
Guidance and counselling SCERT, Govt. of Punjab), Mrs. Arunima Sud (First
Lady of HMV), Mrs. Vani Vij, Mrs. Neha Vij, Mrs. Kamla Lekhi, Mrs. Indu Verma,
Dr. Sucharita, Dr. Atima, Dr. Kamal Gupta, Mrs. Suman, Dr. Anita Sharma, Mrs.
Sudesh, Dr. Jitender Arora (Director Services and College, Dr. Sudesh Kakkar,
Mrs. Sarita and Dr. Pawan Gupta.
Offering a formal welcome Dr.
Ajay Sareen coaxed the audience to ponder on the real essence of being a woman.
Women are equipped with immense potential to lead, the nations towards progress
and development. She asked women to introspect and prove true to their
capabilities. There are miles to be covered and we need to begin right from our
homes. She also appreciated the support of men to help women recognize their
real position. On similar notes Mrs. Shruti Shukla congratulated the women on
their day. Reciting a poem she brought forth the message that women have
established themselves in every field and they need to support one another to
stand up for the cause of women empowerment. Sh. Varinder Kumar Sharma, DC
Jalandhar graced the occasion as the special guest and prayed that women
possess more strength. Their effective participation will lead to greater
economic progress.
To begin with the awards,
foremost Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen was honoured for her unequated efforts in
the field of education and social ventures. The distinguished women who

Dogra, Dr. Rama Sofat, Mrs. Arunima Sud, Dr. Jitender Arora, Lt. Col. Ritu
Srivastava, Lt. Sonia Mahendru, Sub Inspector Meena Kumari, SHO Loveneet. Mrs.
Loveleen Seehra, Ms. Sharanjit Kaur, Olympian Rajwinder Kaur, Pilot Gunjab
Arora, Dr. Kanwaldeep, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Mrs. Navroop Kaur, Mrs. Shally Bowry,
Mrs. Aradhana Bowry, Ms. Nirmaljeet Kaur, Ms. Nidhi Sardana, Ms. Sujata Sharma,
Ms. Urvi Khanna, Dr. Angeleena Uppal, Dr. Attri, SI Preeti, Madam Balbir Kaur.
The life time achievement award was presented to Ms. Dalbir Kaur. Dr. Sucharita
Sharma, Dr. Atima Sharma, Dr. Sarita, Ms. Indu Puri, Ms. Neerja Monga and Ms.
Madok were also honoured on the day.
The students performed dance,
mime and orchestra to mesmerize the gathering.. The glory of the show was
enhanced with the performances of Satinder Sartaj and Kamal Heer.
The event was organized under
