For increasing understanding and
awareness about the importance, role and issues concerning biodiversity and to
connect students with nature, HMV Collegiate
Sr. Sec. School celebrated International Biodiversity Day on May 22, 2020 under
the dynamic guidance of Principal Dr. (Mrs) Ajay Sareen. On this occasion, an
Interclass Online Competition was organized to make students realize that there is an indissoluble
connection between nature and human life. The students participated in two
different categories namely Nature in My Garden Under My Cam Lens in which
students learnt to identifythe valuable plants with their medicinal importance
and Bio-verse Jeevpadkavyam in which students presented self-composed poetry on
biodiversity through videos. Around 45 students participated in first category
and 22 students participated in second category of the competition. Principal
Dr. (Mrs) Ajay Sareen in her address emphasized that our world is evolving
without consideration and the result is loss of biodiversity mainly to our rich
flora and fauna. She further said that celebrating International Biodiversity
Day every year affirms our resolve and reflects on our responsibility to
safeguard the precious heritage of bio-resources for future generations on the
earth. She insisted that it is only with a cross-cutting and ambitious approach
that we can build a more ecologically sustainable future. School coordinator
Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal also added to the importance of biodiversity that only
collective human actions can transform current loss by preserving every scrap
of biodiversity. The event was conducted under the support and guidance of Ms.
Avantika Randev and Ms. Richa Gugnani. The competition was adjudged by Mrs.
Rama Sharma (Head Mass communicationDeptt.)and Mrs. Jaspreet Kaur( Lecturer
