International webinar on “Fashion World-Post COVID Era” organized at HMV

 

PG Department of Fashion Designing of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized an International Webinar on the Topic of “Fashion World - Post Covid Era” under the aegis of IQAC as per the directions and guidelines of Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Webinar Series coordinator Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda stressed on exploring various possibilities in the field of Fashion. Mrs. Navneeta, Asst. Prof in Fashion Designing and Coordinator of the webinar introduced the speakers and the topic of the webinar and moderated the session. The keynote speaker was Mrs. Pritika Bawa, an Associate Professor at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi with more than two decades of experience as an academician specializing in the field of Fashion Studies with a focus on Textiles, Fashion Management, Critical thinking, Social Design, etc. Through a very structured presentation she stressed on possibilities of recycling and redesigning, job opportunities, scope of investment in course of Fashion Designing, online internship, PhD in Fashion Designing and craft cluster. Next Speaker was Mrs. Krishi Sarin, HOD Fashion Designing and Junior Consultant at FDDI, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Noida. She has provided her teaching services at various top class institutions. She has also worked as a designer and has been a Fashion Show organizer and coordinator. She shared her views on “Made in India”, future outlook of Fashion Industry, how to support “Vocal for your Local”, Government funding for start-ups in the field of Fashion and shared a very detailed information on MSME in Apparel Sector. Ms. Winky Singh (Industry Partner) from Ministry of Design, New Delhi was the next speaker. She studied from London College of Fashion and had designed for Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra. She was to share her views on “Importance of Sustainability in Post Covid Era”, but due to bad weather in Delhi she was not able to join. The last speaker was a Fashion Designer and enthusiasts from England, UK. Mrs. Anurita Chandola. She shared her views on “Covid-19 and Global Perspective of Fashion Industry”, new trends coming up like season less collections, antibacterial, self-cleaning and pollution protective clothing. How to support local weavers and artists. Job opportunities abroad and way to abroad after pursuing the course of Fashion Designing, Development of new websites to sale or rent your old expensive clothes. Very detailed and intensive presentation was given by all fashion experts. The questions raised by the participants were answered very well. Positive note in their presentation had given a lot of hope to the Fashion Fraternity and after attending the webinar we learnt to recycle, redesign, go for sensible production and consumption, return to minimalism, stop sense less collections, rethink our values, take advantage of government schemes, be vocal for your local and how the students can develop their skills to be job providers not job seekers. Mrs. Rishav, HOD, PG Department of Fashion Designing extended a formal vote of thanks. Principal Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen appreciated the efforts and congratulated the Department, Webinar series coordinator, Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Kawaldeep Kaur and the technical team on successful execution of the webinar.
