International Webinar on Covid 19 and Indian Economy: Challenges and Ways Ahead held by HMV

 

The PG Department of Economics of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organised a National Webinar on Covid-19 and Indian Economy: Challenges and Ways Ahead in collaboration with Indian Economic Association under the able guidance of Madam Principal Prof (Dr.) (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda, Webinar Series Coordinator welcomed the resource persons and all the participants. Ms Shallu Batra, Head PG Department of Economics introduced the resource persons. Prof. Davinder Kumar Madaan, Secretary, IEA and Head, School of Social Sciences, Punjabi University, Patiala introduced the theme of the webinar, discussed negative impact of Covid-19 on growth of Indian economy and suggested the need of reforms in economic and health policy. Prof. Satish Verma, RBI Chair, CRRID Chandigarh in his inaugural address discussed limitations of existing schemes for MSMEs and emphasised on formulation of more liberal policies for the benefit of MSMEs. Prof. Rohit Singh, Professor in Marketing and Dean Academics AURO University, Surat delivered keynote address and highlighted the implementation of new normal ways and shift of government and organisational policies from consumer centric to consumer and employee centric  Professor B. Gopal Singh, Professor of Economics and Management, VVCE, Business Administration, Mysore, Karnataka, in his lecture on topic ‘Covid 19 Making a positive impact’ highlighted improvement in environment, decline in crime rate and growth of technology, power sector, chemical sector, pharmaceutical sector on account of expected changes due to Covid 19. Dr. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Associate Professor in Economics, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh stated that India can lead the global research and development on the basis of its strong foundation in terms of talent and technology. Prof. V. K. Malhotra, President IEA and Member Secretary ICSSR, in his presidential address stressed on creation of development centres and reconciliation of new development model to attain sustainable and inclusive growth.

The webinar was very fruitful, informative and interactive.
