India
every year celebrates 22nd December as National Mathematics Day to
honour the birthday of great Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The world will
always be greatful to him for his contribution in Mathematics. On this day HMV
Collegiate Sr. Sec. School, Jalandhar celebrated “National Mathematics Day” in
which Model Making Competition of Mathematics was held. Many students
participated in this competition and exhibited their talent.
The
competition was organized under the benign direction of Principal Prof. Dr.
(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and stewardship of school coordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Syal.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that the main objective behind the
celebration was to raise awareness among students about the importance of
Mathematics and also congratulated the winners. She said that HMV Collegiate
School always remain in frontline to encourage the students to participate in
such competition enthusiastically. Co-ordinating Physics with Mathematics
school coordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Syal explained the concept “How 4 is a black
hole number” in a very simple and
interesting way. She gave the example of birth date of Ramanujan to explain the
concept of prime numbers. Mrs. Gagandeep Kaur (Head of Department, Mathematics)
adjudged the competition and she also
praised the initiative taken by the students and encouraged them to participate
with exuberance. Student of SSC-I (Non-Medical) Maloni Arora got 1st
position. Sonia and Komal of SSC-1 bagged 2nd position . Gitika
Chouhan and Ambreen got 3rd position. The overall incharge of the
event was Mrs. Neha Behl, (Asstt. Prof. in Mathematics).
