Students of HMV Collegiate School won 2nd position at state level in 28th National Children Science Congress

 


The students of HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School won 2nd position in 28th state level Children Science Congress. The students are of SSC II Priya & Priyanka Sharma.  It is worth to mention that the students first qualified District Level and won 1st prize. The competition was organized through online mode by Punjab State Council of Science and Technology           (Programme of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India). It was stupendous platform for budding scientists to carry small research activities at micro-level and prompted them to apply scientific methods to solve problems identified by them. The focal theme for this competition was science for sustainable living in which our students presented their project on the topic Paddy Straw- A Friend & Foe. The main objective of the project was to reduce environmental pollution caused by CO2 emitted by burning paddy straw. With the guidance of teacher, students came across to the solution that this pollution can be reduced by making biodegradeable articles and cultivation of mushrooms.

 

Principal Prof. Dr.(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen congratulated the winners &  their guide teacher . She also encouraged them to involve in science, expand their innovative talents in the field of science & technology. She gave best wishes to the students for upcoming National level. School Coordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal also appreciated the whole team for their remarkable achievements. She also mentioned that our institute has been recognized as waste management pioneer by Municipal Corpration Jalandhar as the school has maintained a garden made out of waste material in order to inspire our students to make best use of recycled material. Ms. Vandana Sethi (Chemistry Deptt.) was the guide teacher of the students for the competition.
