The students of HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School won 2nd
position in 28th state level Children Science Congress. The
students are of SSC II Priya & Priyanka Sharma. It is worth to mention that the
students first qualified District Level and won 1st prize. The
competition was organized through online mode by Punjab State Council of Science
and Technology (Programme of Department
of Science and Technology, Govt. of India). It was stupendous platform for
budding scientists to carry small research activities at micro-level and
prompted them to apply scientific methods to solve problems identified by them.
The focal theme for this competition was science for sustainable living in
which our students presented their project on the topic Paddy Straw- A Friend
& Foe. The main objective of the project was to reduce environmental
pollution caused by CO2 emitted by burning paddy straw. With the guidance of teacher, students came across to the solution that this
pollution can be reduced by making biodegradeable articles and cultivation of
mushrooms.
