Zoology Department under DBT Star Scheme celebrated ‘World Heart Day’ on 29th September, under the able guidance of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The poster presentation and slogan writing competition was organized to bring awareness against cardiovascular diseases. Around 100 students from all streams enthusiastically participated in the event by preparing beautiful posters and creative slogans on the theme ‘Use Heart for Every Heart’ to highlight the goal to bring people together to fight against Heart related diseases. The posters were adjudged by Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Jitender and Dr. Anjana Bhatia while as Judges for slogan writing competition were Dr. Harpreet Singh and Mrs. Saloni Sharma. Divya of B.Sc. Med Sem V gave a message to use Heart for Nature, Heart for Humanity and Heart for You. A video related to symptoms, causes and preventive measures for cardiovascular diseases was also shown to students. On this occasion, the students also distributed badges with the theme on World Heart Day. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen appreciated the efforts of students and motivated them to follow healthy diet and lifestyle to prevent the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and Head of Zoology Department motivated the students to increase physical activity and avoid junk food in their daily routine to keep their hearts healthy. All the participants were give e-certificates and the winners were awarded with prizes. Mrs. Deepshikha, Mrs. Sangeeta, Mr. Sushil, Mr. Sumit, Dr. Shaveta, Dr. Nitika, Mrs. Purnima and Ms. Harpreet Kaur were also present. Dr. Sakshi Verma and Mr. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professors in Zoology Department were the conveners. Lab attendants Mr. Sachin and Mr. Rajinder assisted in making all arrangements for the event.
