The
Institution Innovation Council and Eco Club of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya ,
in collaboration with the Punjab Biodiversity Board, PSCST, and NBA, celebrated
International Biodiversity Day and World Environment Day. This significant
event was organized under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay
Sareen. An expert talk dedicated to the Environment Education Programme of the
Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) was delivered by
Dr. Gurharminder Singh, Principal Scientific Officer of the Punjab Biodiversity
Board and State Nodal Officer of the Tandarust Punjab Programme, a flagship
initiative of the Government of Punjab. Dr. Gurharminder Singh was warmly
welcomed by Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dean,Research and Innovations. Dr. Gurharminder
Singh's insightful presentation focused on the Kumming-Montreal Global
Biodiversity Framework, addressing critical topics such as climate
vulnerabilities in Punjab, accelerating action on land restoration, combating
desertification, enhancing drought resilience, and promoting healthy ecosystems
and climate change mitigation. The virtual event was attended by more than 100
students from HMV Collegiate School, accompanied by their teachers. Mrs.
Arvinder Kaur, Coordinator of the School, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks
to the esteemed speaker. The collaboration and enthusiasm displayed at this
event underscore HMV's commitment to fostering environmental awareness and
education among its students and the broader community. The event was also graced
by the presence of Innovation Ambassadors Ms. Sonia Mahendru, Mrs. Lovleen Kaur, Ms. Harpreet Kaur,
Dr. Minakshi Duggal, Dr. Simmi, Mr. Ashish Chadha, Mr. Vidhu Vohra, and Mr.
Arvind.
