HMV Organized Grand "Skill to Entrepreneurship" Diwali Mela under the aegis of National EduTrust of India




 

Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya hosted a vibrant Diwali Skill and Entrepreneurship Mela as part of the Skill-to-Entrepreneurship Project 2024. The event was a resounding success, inaugurated by the esteemed Chief Guest, Sh. Mohinder Bhagat, Minister of Defence Services welfare, Freedom Fighters & Horticulture, Punjab. He commended HMV's efforts in promoting vocational education and announced his support for the renovation of College Virsa Vihar and internal roads of the college with a promise to convey these needs to the Chief Minister Punjab.  He also assured to visit of Chief Minister Punjab to this prestigious institution. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen warmly welcomed the Cabinet Minister and praised the students' entrepreneurial spirit. The mela featured handcrafted products such as artistic furnishings, Diwali-themed diyas, greeting cards, gift hampers, and a variety of food stalls. The highlight of the event was the recycled handmade furniture inspired by Mughal and Rajasthani miniature themes, which captivated visitors with its unique blend of traditional art and sustainability. Departments such as Design, Multimedia, Fashion, Cosmetology, Home Science, and Fine Arts participated, showcasing and selling their creative products. The focus was on fostering entrepreneurship, with students learning to "earn while they learn." Additionally, special organic spices, diya and food stalls by Chanan Vocational Centre and Durga Dass School for Special Children added a meaningful, inclusive touch to the event. Dr. Navroop, Dr. Seema Marwaha, and Dr. Anjana Bhatia, were present. Dr. Bhatia extended her thanks to the National EduTrust of India and Mr. Samarth Sharma for their unwavering support and guidance. The event was skillfully managed by Dr. Rakhi, Incharge Skill Courses, along with Ms. Navneeta, Dr. Neeru Bharti, Ms. Rishav, Mr. Ashish, Dr. Shailendra, Ms. Mukti, Ms Sukhdeep who motivated the students to explore entrepreneurial ventures. A total of 152 students participated, with 62 stalls set up, and an impressive 1860 items were sold. The success of the mela is attributed to the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen. The event truly provided a platform for students to showcase their skills and transition into budding entrepreneurs.
