The Heritage Centre of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organized “Teeyan Da Mela” under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The ceremony was coordinated by Head of Punjabi Department Mrs. Navroop Kaur, Incharge Heritage Centre Mrs. Satinder Kaur & Co-Incharge Mrs. Veena Arora. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. Sushma Chawla, Gynaecologist and Social Worker and Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur, President S. Ajit Singh Foundation. The Heritage Centre was renamed as “Amri Da Vehra”. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that Teeyan is the regional name of the festival of Teej which is celebrated throughout Punjab which is dedicated to the onset of the monsoon and focuses on daughters and sisters. Teeyan is about happiness, prosperity and well being. Mrs. Navroop said that It is the women’s dance festival of the Punjab Region. It is very pious and ominous festival.
Students presented Gidha, Geet and Songs. Kheer-Poore was also given as sweet. Stage was conducted by Mrs. Kuljit Kaur, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, students Ria and Prabhsimran. On this occasion Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Mrs. Deepshikha, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Mrs. Urvashi, Mrs. Protima Mander, Supdt. Mr. Pankaj Jyoti and Mr. Ravi Maini were also present.
