HMV BAGS DST-CURIE GRANT FROM CENTRE FOR PG SCIENCE DEPARTMENTS



 

Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar has bagged DST-CURIE grant from the U Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi. Under the scheme PG Departments will receive research funding from Department of Science and Technology (DST).  Principal Prof Dr Ajay Sareen said that HMV has become the first college affiliated to GNDU, Amritsar to receive the approval. The elated Principal told that the approval has been granted by the project advisory committee on the basis of presentation made by Project Coordinator Dr Anjana Bhatia after the first-round screening. She further added that PG Science Departments would get a non-recurring grant for purchase of equipment along with a recurring grant over a period of three years for holistic improvement of science education with special emphasis on practical training at the postgraduate and research level and thereby nurture excellence in science education. Principal Sareen congratulated Dr Anjana Bhatia, Project Coordinator, Ms Harpreet Kaur, Cocordinator, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics, Mrs. Deepshikha, Faculty Incharge,  Mrs. Saloni Sharma,  Dr. Jatinder, Dr. Gagandeep and entire Science Faculty and She said that the Science Departments of HMV will continue to produce high quality women scientists for the nation.  Under the out-reach component of the scheme, the college will provide students of other colleges the opportunity to make use of the various equipment. The scheme is intended to provide basic infrastructure and enabling facilities of science departments for promoting R&D activities in new and emerging areas and attracting fresh talents in women educational institutions, she added. She said that the grant was intended to invigorate the interdisciplinary research through the up-gradation of the postgraduate teaching and training laboratories; evolving a comprehensive curriculum without gaps and overlaps and enhancement of the hands-on practical training to students so that they develop expertise in their respective fields.Principal Sareen thanked the Dr. Punam Suri, President DAVCMC, New Delhi, Justice (Retd.) N.K Sud, Chairman, LAC and all the mentors at DAVCMC, New Delhi and LAC, HMV. On this occasion members of Local Advisory Committee Sh. Y.K. Sud, Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Sh. Surendra Seth and Sh. Sudhir Sharma were also present.
