The HMV Competitive Examination Hub under the aegis of
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, organised a guest lecture on the topic
, ‘How to prepare for UPSC/PPSC Exam’ The resource person of the day was
Dr. Malkiat Singh, Deputy Director AIS centre, Guru Nanak Dev University. The
event began with the formal welcome of the resource person with a green
planter. Mrs. Binoo Gupta , Coordinator of the HMV Competitive Examination Hub
highlighted the role of the Hub in motivating the students for various
competitive exams and cited example of HMV IAS Alumnae Bhawna Garg, Smita Dawra
and PCS HMV Alumnae Sarojini Gautam Sharda, Babita Kler and Anupam Kler to encourage the students. She also told that Hub is providing Students
with Banking coaching and CA foundation coaching classes have high success
rate, as It’s the difference in preparation which gives remarkable results. Dr.
Malkiat Singh talked about the power and charm of Civil Services. He guided the
students on what to study , How to study and When to study . And also
strongly highlighted that there is no
need for coaching if we start our preparation during graduation. He gave his 5
mantras for success. First mantra to success is reading newspaper daily with
focus on editorial and main international/national/ state news with reference
to all the government schemes. Second mantra is working on the vocabulary,
which can be gained only and only through reading good books. Third mantra is
to gain basic knowledge of various topics by going through the NCERT books from 6th
to 10th. His Fourth Mantra
was be sincere, focussed and disciplined towards the goal of clearing
UPSC/PPSC. Last but not least he advised students that they should make a
proper study plan by allotting time for studying , physical and mental
rejuvenation. They should take short breaks after long hours of study . His 5
Mantras were the sure shot success capsule in clearing UPSC/PPSC examinations.
Jasveen Sandhu, student of BA Sem III Sociology conducted the stage. Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen appreciated the efforts of the department. She
said that success rate is more in HMV Competitive Hub. She gave her best wishes
to the students. The event ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Baljinder, Head of
Sociology Department, who thanked
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen for always motivating and encouraging
the faculty for organising such lectures. He asked the students to have the
thrust of becoming an IAS officer. They should just not dream, but should be ready to work really hard to accomplish their
goal. He told 75 students were benefitted
by the lecture. He also cited the recent appointments of the judges in PCS(J)
and inspired to students to be one of them . It was a very fruitful lecture on
the whole. On this Occasion Mrs. Protima Mander, Mr Vidhu were also present.
