The department of Sociology organized a multi-hued Inter College competition entitled Societe en Cadre under the dynamic directions of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and guidance of Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda. The event initiated with the pious kindling of the lamp followed by the recital of DAV Anthem. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen graced the occasion as the chief guest and was accorded a warm welcome and presented a planter by Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda and Ms. Nandini Budhia, Incharge department of Sociology. The event witnessed the presence of Mr. Sahil Ohri, Internationally renowned artist, Mrs. Anuradha Thakur, Art educationist, Mr. Nikhil Basson, Fashion Designer, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, renowned artist, Mr. Inderjit Singh, an engineer, poet and story writer, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, renowned artist, Ms. Damanjeet Kaur, TV and Radio Jockey, Mr. Sony, Professor Video Maker, Mrs. Nidhi Mittal, Int. Kathak Dancer, Mrs. Ritika and Mr. Rahul Saini, Fictions writer as Judges.
They were welcomed with planters and honoured by Principal Dr. Sareen and Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen in her address welcomed the guests and participants and told that participants from 22 institutions from all over Punjab contributed to it. She motivated the students quoting honourable Abdul Kalam that Dream is that does not let you sleep. The participants have displayed their bests and worked hard for the competitions which is worth praise. She extended her thanks to the Principals of the institutions for sending the enthusiastic participants. Dr. Nidhi bal briefed about the achievements of the institution and the Principal. Introducing the concept note Ms. Nandini said that the motive of this competition was to address the problems of the society using art.
Students performed a colourful Qawali to make the event enjoyable. The results of different events are as under:-
In poster making, first position was won by DAV College, Jalandhar, second by SD College, Jalandhar and third by NIIFT Ludhiana. In Rangoli, DAV College Jalandhar stood first, NIIFT Ludhiana bagged second position and GNDU Regional Campus stood third. In Declamation SD College won first place, GNDU Regional Campus second and GGDSD Chandigarh stood third. In Choreography first position was won by St. Soldier College, Jalandhar, second by DAV College Jalandhar and third by SD College, Jalandhar. In short story, first prize was won by St. Soldier College, second by GNDU Regional Campus and third by GNDU College, Jalandhar. In News reading the first prize was won by GNDU Regional campus, second by DAV College, Jalandhar and third by DAV University. In Photography, first by Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, second by SD College Jalandhar and third prize was bagged by Anuja, a freelancer.
The Overall fourth position was won by NIIFT Ludhiana with a cash prize of Rs.1100/-. The third overall position was won by GNDU Regional Campus with a cash prize of Rs.2100/-. The second overall position was won by SD College Jalandhar with a cash prize of Rs.3100/- and the overall first trophy was lifted by DAV College, Jalandhar and received a cash prize of Rs.5100/-. Principal Prof. Dr. Sareen, Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda and Ms. Nandini congratulated the winners and distributed medals and certificates to them. Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda gave a vote of thanks to conclude the event.
