H.M.V. Collegiate Sr. Sec. School Celebrated Earth Day




The earth does not belong to us, we belong to the earth, keeping this in mind and to sensitize students about promoting a healthy, sustainable habitat for people and wildlife alike, "Earth Day" was celebrated at HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School under the dynamic guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and the be high support of School Co-ordinator Mrs. Meenakashi Sayal. The event commenced with traditional lamp lighting ceremony followed by DAV Gaan. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and School Co-ordinater extended green welcome to the chief guest of the event Sh. Ajay Goswami, member of Local Committee and industrialist and Arya Samajist and Mrs. Goswami. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen appreciated the efforts of the students. She also said that it is the sole responsibility of modern generation to keep the environment clean as they have inherited this earth from their ancestors.
Principal Sareen also encouraged the students to participate actively as the messengers to spread the message to adopt environment friendly practices. Students participated in various activities like slogan writing on the topic water conservation, Nest making and Power Point Presentation on environmental issues like global warming, Plastic Pollution and stubble burning in Punjab.
On this occasion Sh. Goswami apprised the students saying that earth is our mother and it is dire need of the hour to maintain the degrading quality of environment which can be altered only by planting more and more trees. School Coordinator  Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal extended warm welcome to the esteemed chief guest Sh. Ajay Goswami and Mrs. Goswami, Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, the Jury members, faculty members and students. In her address, Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal invoked the sense of concern towards mother earth. She also said that its high time that we all should pledge to protect the greenery. We should stop using plastic and instead adopt healthy practices to preserve the greenery, beauty and the bounty that our earth has generously bestowed upon us.
The various competitions were adjudged by Mrs. Kranti Wadhwa (Co-Dean Publication), Smt. Sunita Dhawan (HOD, Sanskrit) and Dr. Rakhi Mehta (HOD, Fine Arts). In quotation writing competition, Simran Saini (+1 Medical) got First, Kriti (+1 Commerce) got Second, Kriti Aggarwal (+2 Arts) got Third and Drishti Mittu got consolation prize. In Nest Making Competition, Kriti Aggarwal got First, Sakshi (+1 Arts) got Second, Prachi (+1 Commerce) got Third prize. Ist consolation prize was given to Harpreet (+2 Non Medical) and IInd consolation prize was given to Tamanna (+1 Commerce). In Powerpoint Presentation, Basudha and Vishavdeep won consolation prizes while Diya (+2 Non Medical) got Ist, Jasraj (+2 Non Medical) got IInd and Hitasha  (+2 Non Medical) got IIIrd Position. On this occasion books were donated to the meritorious and needy students. Stage was conducted by Mrs. Protima of History Deptt. The faculty members of Collegiate School were also present.
