The fourth day
of the seven day Faculty Development Programme on ‘Visual and
Performing Arts’ organized under the motivational guidance of Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, began with the sacred lighting of lamp and
recital of DAV Anthem. The day entitled
as ‘Rhythms’ witnessed the presence of Dr. Neelam Mahendru, Associate Prof.,
KMV Jalandhar and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Associate Professor, Govt. College,
Chandigarh. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen,
Dr. Rakhi Mehta, Convener, Dr. Pooja Manhas, Co-Convener and Dr. Santosh
Khanna, HOD Music Instrumental presented a planter to the resource persons and
welcomed them.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay
Sareen said that the FDP will prove fruitful to the participants and enhance
their skills. Dr. Santosh Khanna told
that the fourth day of FDP is dedicated to Music and the participants will
learn novel techniques during the session.
Dr. Neelam Mahendru addressed the
members on the topic ‘Music is Meditation’ and said that Music requires
complete devotion and dedication like meditation. In the second session, Dr. Ashok Kumar
elaborated on the topic ‘Importance of Rhythm in Sitar Vaadan.
In the post lunch session Dr. Ashok
Kumar conducted a practical session on Sitar and mesmerized the members with
his spectacular performance. Thus the
session concluded on the heavenly notes of Sitar. Dr. Ekta Khosla, Dean Academics, Dr. Prem Sagar,
HOD Music Vocal and other members of the department of Fine Arts, Music and
Dance graced the occasion with their presence.
