FDP on Visual and Performing Arts inaugurated at HMV



A seven day Faculty Development Programme on Visual and Performing Arts organized by Department of Music, Dance, Designing and Fine Arts was inaugurated at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya under the support and motivation of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen.  The event began on a pious note by the lighting of lamp and recital of DAV Anthem.
            Mrs. Purnima Beri, a renowned social worker and Member Local Committee graced the occasion as Chief Guest and was accorded a green welcome by Principal Dr. Sareen, Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur, Dr. Ekta Khosla and Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda.  Addressing the gathering Mrs. Beri praised the unique and novel ventures initiated by the institution.  This Faculty Development Programme is a part of such efforts and it aims to hone the skills of the faculty.  The keynote speaker Dr. Varinder Kaur, Department of Chemistry, GNDU, Amritsar elaborated on natural dyes and fibres.  She discussed the health benefits of cotton, jute and bamboo fibres.
            Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the guests formally and congratulated Dr. Rakhi Mehta, Convener and Dr. Pooja Manhas, Co-Convener for organizing this FDP.  Comparing the FDP to meditation, she said that it will help the faculty to acquire knowledge.  Placing themselves in the role of pupils the faculty is eager to learn from the resource persons. 
            Introducing the faculty Dr. Rakhi Mehta welcomed all the guests and participants.  She said that this programme will prompt the members to walk forward on the path of knowledge and lead to success.  She further told that each day is dedicated to one art form and has been entitled uniquely. Day 1 is dedicated to Music Vocal and named as Harmony and Melody.  Expressions is the title given to Designing.  Day 3 is devoted to Dance and named as steps and Beeps.  Day 4 will deal with Music Instrumental under the name Rhythms.  Day 5 is devoted to Fine Arts and titled as Brush and Strokes.
            In the post tea session Prof. B.S. Narang, Sangeet Guru of International repute addressed the participants on Raag Ek, Andaz Anek.  He discussed about the origin of ragas and their compositions.   The members of the core committee Dr. Ekta Khosla, Dr. Santosh Khanna, Dr. Prem Sagar, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dr. Neeru Bharti Sharma, Miss Rishav Bhardwaj, Dr.Shailendra, Mr. Ashish, Dr. Ansuhmati, and Mr. Rishabh Dhir, Ms. Nishita, Dr. Sarabjit, Ms. Suruchi were present.  Stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
