HMV Organised seminar on Prevention of Anemia to mark “Poshan Maah”



Youth Red Cross society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha vidyalaya Jalandhar organised a seminar on Prevention of Anemia to observe “Poshan Maah” under the able guidance of Principal Professor Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Dr. Harish Bhardwaj, President IMA Jalandhar, Dr. Jasmeen Dahiya State Chairperson WDW, IMA Punjab, Dr. Deepali Luthra and Dr. Gagandeep Singh were invited for the same. Mrs Deepshikha Incharge Youth Red Cross Society welcomed the guests with planters. Dr. Jasmine Dahiya delivered a very informative lecture on Prevention of Anemia. Anemia is one of the leading causes of mortality. She enumerated various causes that make a person anemic. She also explained the symptoms of anemia which include fatigue, skin pallor, and shortness of breathness, dizziness or fast heartbeat. She shared statistics of anemia and told that it is most common blood disorder affecting about a third of global population. She suggested the students to get timely Hb estimation and to adopt a healthy lifestyle by taking a nutritious diet. She also suggested taking iron supplements for Iron deficiency. She also gave reference of “Rashtriya Poshan Maah” which is celebrated to raise awareness to help India become mal-nutrition free by 2022.
Dr. Deepali Luthra also advised the students to develop healthy eating habits and to avoid junk food. She suggested them to do meditation and yoga. In the end, students interacted with the Doctors and discuss their problems. On this occasion Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Ms. Simmi, Dr. Meenakshi (Medical Officer) and other faculty members were present.
