The
zoology Department of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a two day
Workshop on Medical Laboratory Techniques under the able guidance of Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The Resource persons of the workshop were Dr.
Deeksha Chowdhary, M.D. Pathology, Synergy Laboratory Jalandhar, Mr. Jagjiwan
Singh (Lab Technicion, Synergy Lab, Jalandhar) and Ms. Jatinder Kaur (H.O.D.)
Medical Laboratory, St. Soldier college, Jalandhar. They were given green
Welcome by community college coordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal and Prof. (Dr.)
Seema Marwaha, H.O.D. Zoology Department
and course coordinator DMLT. On first day Dr. Deeksha enlightened students
about various events in the human body to maintain the homeostasis and the
important role of Platelets to avoid the loss of
blood.
She emphasized on the extrinsic and intrinsic pathway for
coagulation of blood along with disorders of platelets those results from
absence of various clotting factors along with the
knowledge of tests like PT test and APTT for
diagnosis of any disorder. In the evening
session, Mr. Jagjiwan Singh provided hands on training to the students
by demonstrating the ways for collection of blood sample. He also trained students to
perform ESR, Prothrombin Time, APTT and many more. Additionally, he
emphasized on the role of calcium in blood. On
the second day, Ms. Jatinder Kohli put forth uncultured horizons about
blood and its disorders in front of students. As through
keen observation of shape of RBC one can locate disorders like
heamophila, Thallesimea etc. She emphasized that
not only theoretical but practical work is equally important
to become a technician. She demonstrated
the procedure to check Hb of the patient. Madam
Principal appreciated the efforts of Zoology
Department, Dr. Sakshi
Verma and Ms. Avantika Randev conducted the stage. Mr. Ravi Kumar,
Mr.Sachin and Mr. Amit were also present on the occasion.
