HMV Jalandhar was awarded for ‘Excellence in Creative and Performing
Arts’ by Honorable Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari
at the 6th FICCI Higher Education Excellence Awards during 15th FICCI Global Higher Education Summit 2019
held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi from 27th - 29th November
2019. The event organised by FICCI, India
in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI and
Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India was inaugurated by Honourable President of India,
His Excellency Sh. Ram Nath Kovind who remarked that the world of tomorrow will be driven by knowledge, machine-intelligence
and digital pathways. Ideation, innovation and incubation should be given
primacy in our curriculum. Liberal arts and humanities must get equal attention
- for fruits of technology have to be ultimately made relevant to people,
communities and cultures. On this juncture, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal
‘Nishank’ , Union Minister for HRD, GoI released FICCI Report “15 years of
Journey: FICCI Higher Education Committee” & presented its first copy to
THE PRESIDENT of India.

Excellence Awards recognize and honour the accomplishments and outstanding work
done by institutions and individuals who have set yardsticks of merit and are
doing inspiring and commendable work in the higher education space.
Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar which
has established an ecosystem for integrating global dimensions in creative and
performing arts was felicitated for its exceptional achievements in providing new and emerging coursework in creative arts which is more
industry specific along with innovative technologies led initiatives undertaken
by the institution.
The award was received by Principal Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen. While talking
about the prestigious award, Dr Sareen said “It is both overwhelming and
humbling to accept this felicitation on behalf of the institution for the 2nd
time consecutively. Last year, we were awarded in the category of Institutional
special responsibility. At HMV Jalandhar, we are blessed to have a vibrant and
enthusiastic working team that is regarded for their strong skillsets and
desire to do extremely well”. She told that the project was handled by
Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dean Equal Opportunity and Mrs. Meeenakshi Syal (Community
College Coordinator).She further added that Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar has become the first
college of India to receive this award.
The selection of
award was done by a high level Jury panel, Chaired by Dr R. A. Mashelkar
(Indian National Research Professor and Chancellor, Academy of Scientific and
Innovative Research) and co-chaired by Dr Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All
India Council for Technical Education. HMV was shortlisted from about three
hundred applicants in a three stage screening process. After short listing
based on a rigorous assessment by industry leaders, academics and policy
makers, HMV was called for presentation and interactive session before the
grand jury on 22 October 2019 at the FICCI offices in New Delhi. This
presentation was evaluated for its Vision and Mission, new initiatives, Outcome
Metrics, Awards and Honours, Rankings, Collaborations and Future Plans.
After a one hour long
interaction, HMV was selected for the award. The Principal congratulated the
faculty and staff members and said that all this is possible because of
guidance of DAV mentors and continuous efforts of faculty members.
