The Chandrayaan Vipnet Club of Physics department organized one day
educational trip to Pushpa Gujral Science City Kapurthala under the stewardship
of respected Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Mr. Sushil Kumar, Ms.
Simmi Garg and Dr. Deepshikha escorted 35 students of B.Sc (Sem-I) to the
Science City. Students participated in this trip with full enthusiasm. Students watched a show based on serious
issue of climate change. Various factors responsible for climate change and
their preventative measures were explained in a very interesting way. Students
also have realistic experience of being in earthquake with intensity of 6.2 on
Richter scale in earthquake simulator. The precautions needed at the time of
earthquake were explained to the students. The Space and Aviation Gallery gave
the students an exhilarating voyage into the space and provided them with
information about the Solar system and many amazing celestial objects making up
the universe. Students were fascinated to have an in-depth knowledge of the
working of Sun, Earth, Moon and other planets. They also learnt how scientists
live in space and cut view models of satellites and various applications of
space technology. Energy Park created awareness about applications of various
renewable energy sources and energy conservation measures with the help of
interesting exhibits and models. The students learnt about the new technologies
developed in the area of Renewable energy.
Students enjoyed different activities based on the basic principles of
reflection, refraction, vibration, work, primary colors etc. Various laws
of Physics had been demonstrated in a
very interactive manner. Dinosaur Park gave students knowledge about the
Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Moreover, students watched “Everest”
an American film about the trials and tribulations involved in reaching the
summits of Mount Everest, the highest mountain peak on earth. Students also
enjoyed LASER SHOW. The trip was very informative.
