HMV organized Plogging to celebrate Swachhta Pakhwada



The NCC unit of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya in joint venture with NCC  Group Head Quarters Jalandhar and under the dynamic guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen organized a plogging event. Group Commander Brig. Advitiya Madan, Deputy Commander Col. A.A. Jaffery,  Training Officer Col. Dhanoa, ADC Kulwant Singh and Additional Municipal Commissioner Ms. Babita Kaler were the honoured guests of the event conducted in line with the National campaign “Swachhta Pakhwada : Plastic Se  Raksha, Swachhta Hi Suraksha”. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen offered a green welcome to all the guests and dignitaries. The program initiated with the pious lighting of lamp followed by DAV Anthem and NCC Song.
Addressing the young cadets Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that it is the auspicious day to take a novel step and set milestones and contribute valuably in the National cleanliness campaign initiated by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. She emphasized that the purpose of this movement is to clean the physical environment and it should be extended to clean the polluted minds and thoughts as well, so that we can build  up a better nation. Bringing to light the plight of waste picking children, she motivated the audience to realize their responsibility. Every citizen should move from self to society and fulfill their duties. She said that DAV organizations are known for their ethical and moral practices and it is their duty to educate youth about cleanliness.
Brig. Madan elaborated on the origin of plogging which started in Sweden and become a mass movement. Mixture of two words “jogging” and “picking up” it has two fold benefits of health and cleanliness. It’s aim is to spread awareness and send a message across nations to have a clean surroundings. Additional Commissioner Ms. Babita Kaler encouraged the cadets to get rid of Plastic and save water. Youth can bring a difference in the society. On similar note ADC Mr. Kulwant singh asked the cadets to bring a change in their thoughts. It is the irresponsible attitude of humans which has led to drastic consequences and it is our responsibility to prevent more harms being done. The event concluded with the recital of National Anthem.,
The plogging campaign started from the college campus and headed towards Burlton Park led by Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen and the guests. Cadets from various schools and colleges formed a part of it. The event was co-ordinated by Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Lt. Sonia Mahindru and Mrs. Purnima. The stage was enthusiastically hosted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia. The members of teaching and non-teaching staff were also in attendance.
