HMV will serve food to needy people on its 94th Foundation Day

 Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, a prestigious institute of India, is going to enter in its 94th year on 7th April. On this occasion, this institution is going to serve food to the needy persons. Due to COVID-19, as a precautionary measure, institution is not going to organise any mega event but to celebrate this special day, the institution is going to organise Online competition-HMV Virtual Meet 2020 on the theme “Fight Corona with Humanity”. This information is shared by Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen a day before Foundation Day. In her message Dr. Sareen said that We have been celebrating this day with great fervour in the recent times, by doing “Havan” and by adopting one good practice. This year, due to the lockdown we will do a virtual prayer and adopt one Good practice. In these difficult times, we must strengthen our belief in humanity and on the 94th foundation day we should extend a helping hand to a fellow human.She proudly shared that Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, a prestigious name in the field of education needs no introduction. It is multifaculty institution of India.  It is the first college in India to be awarded the maximum score of 3.83 during re-accreditation by NAAC in 2013.  It is also the first college of North India to get the status of ‘College of Excellence’ by UGC.  Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya is entering into its 94th year. 7th April is its 94th Foundation day.On its foundation day, every year, a big ceremony is organised. But this year, the menace of COVID-19 has spread across the globe and we all are lock down in different parts of the country. But Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya is making productive use of this time.  The Student Council in collaboration with Multimedia Club of the college is organising Online competition-HMV Virtual Meet 2020 on the theme “Fight Corona with Humanity”.  The best part about this competition is that the entries will be compiled into an e-booklet which will be published online. Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen said that this virtual competition will boost the morale of the students in such a tough situation. The college has already got ample number of entries for the same.The college is managed by DAV College Trust and Management Society, New Delhi under the dynamic leadership of Padmashree Dr. Punam Suri, President, DAVCMC. Sharing the Historical Profile of the college, Dr. Sareen told that the institution was established in 1927 at Lahore with the pious efforts of Mahatma Hans Raj, a pioneer of DAV movement.  It was re-established in March 1948 at Arya Samaj, Bikrampura, Jalandhar.  Sarvpalli Dr. Radha Krishnan, the then Vice President of India inaugurated the present campus on 7th Nov., 1959.  Presently, the college is functioning under the stewardship of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen.Keeping in account the excellence in the field of imparting education the institution has also been conferred with an award ‘Excellence in Creative and Performing Arts’ in 6th FICCI Higher Education Excellence Awards during 15th FICCI Global Higher Education Summit 2019. It has been awarded with the prestigious, ASSOCHAM Education Excellence Award.  The award is aimed at recognizing the excellent contribution of the institution in fostering affordable quality education and taking initiatives for social responsibility and nurture an atmosphere of excellence.
We have been bestowed upon with prestigious “’FICCI Higher Education Excellence Award’,” which aims to celebrate and honour educational institutes for their initiatives that have changed the course of Higher Education in India.  The college got award entitled ‘Excellent College Imparting Public Service Programmes in Punjab’ by Communication, Multimedia and Infrastructure (CMAI) on 14th April, 2017.  The Flagship College Award has also been conferred to the institution by Confederation of Education Excellence (CEE) in association with ECONS to the institution for the excellence in the field of academics, sports, extra-curricular activities, state-of-art infrastructure and research on 22nd April, 2017. The college has recently been granted the status of Kaushal Kendra by UGC.  This will give an impetus to the courses leading to skill development and providing an opportunity to the students for start ups and helping them to realize their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs in the field of – Web Technology and Multimedia, Journalism and Media, Fashion Designing, Mental Health and Counselling, Cosmetology and Wellness.  The college is also running courses i.e. Advance Diploma in Fashion Designing, Diplomas in Journalism and Media, Tourism and Hospitality, Organic Farming, Medical Technician under Community College. The college has been declared as an excellent college by OUTLOOK MAGAZINE in their edition on India’s Best Professional Colleges.
