Hans
Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar has taken an initiative to connect to
students during times of distress through e-sakhi app. The app was launched in
January, 2020. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that during the
times of Corona pandemic, many girl students may be facing anxiety, depression,
stress and other mental health problems. The e-sakhi app is meant to extend a
helping hand towards students sitting at home. Given the ubiqity of mobile
devices, it made sense that help be provided through the mobile platform. So,
through a special meeting, the mentoring incharges of the college guided the
students about the emotional support available to them round the clock and at
the click of just one button on their mobiles. The app was designed by Mr.
Jagjit Bhatia, Associate Professor, PG Deptt of Computer Science and IT. He
said that the app is very easy to download and operate and the student can get
an immediate help from the mentor in case of any anguish or problem. Even if
the student is feeling low, the app can help student connect with the mentor.
The college also has DISHA counselling cell which is also providing
e-counselling facilities during COVID-19.
