HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec School celebrated Akshay Urja Diwas 2020

 

To mark the importance of development of renewable energy sources and to promote awareness about renewable resources among students, HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School celebrated Akshay Urja Diwas 2020, under the benign stewardship of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The event began with traditional lamp lighting ceremony followed by Gayatri Mantra. The inaugural address was given by the school coordinator Ms. Meenakshi Sayal in which she sensitized students about 3 R’s- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and also laid stress on the use of renewable energy like solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy and biofuels, etc. as it is helpful to reduce water pollution and global warming. She also mentioned that the institution primarily focuses on conserving energy through solar generators, solid waste management, rainwater management, recycling paper machine and biogas plant, etc. She congratulated the winners and thanked all the eminent guests presiding over the event. The competitions received overwhelming response from different parts of India. Total 473 students from 49 institutions of Varanasi, Haridwar, Kolkata, Nepal, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and all over Punjab participated in the various competitions like Slogan Writing, Role Play and Quiz Competition. Mr. Rajiv Joshi, Deputy District Education Officer was the Chief Guest of the event. Mr. Sushil Kumar, Assistant Prof. in Physics and Mrs. Simmi Garg, Assistant Prof. in Physics, performed tedious task of judgement. The competition was held in two levels i.e. school level and college level. Srishti of SSC II Arts recited the poem on Energy Conservation. A video of posters made by participants about energy conservation and renewable energy sources was displayed. In Slogan Writing Competition (school category), Yuvani Madan from Mayor World School stood first, Manya Jain from Mayor World School and Janvi from Lala Jagat Narayan DAV Model School won second prize, Jasmeen Kaur from BSF Sr. Sec. School Jalandhar and Sandeep Kaur from RR Bawa DAV Collegiate Girls Sr. Sec. School, Batala won third prize.

In Role Play Competition (school category), Sargun Saini from BSF Sr. Sec. School won first prize, Gursimran Kaur from BSF Sr. Sec School, Jal. And Taranpreet Singh from CJS Public School, Jal. won second prize. Astharajshreshtha from Pathik Gyaan Niketan, Dhaulagiri, Nepal and Ishita from CJS Public School, Jal. Won third prize. In Quiz Competition (school category), Saloni Sharma from Atam Vidya Mandir School, Kanech (Sahnewal) stood first. Shivam Sharma from Mont Fort Children Academy won second prize and Roshni Bhatia from Mayor World School, Jal. won third prize.

In Slogan Writing Competition (college category), Manisha Kumari from Millennium B.Ed College, Saru, Chamba HP won first prize. Avleen Kaur from St. Baba Hari Singh Memorial Khalsa College of Education. Mahilpur won second prize. Prabhsimran from Chamba Millennium College and Vaishali Keshari from Sunbeam College for Women, Varanasi got third prize.In Quiz Competition (college category), Vaishali from Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana won first prize. Ankita Sharma from Mata Ganga Khalsa College, Ludhiana won second prize and Prabhsimran Kaur from Chamba Millennium B.Ed College won third prize.

On this occasion. Principal Dr. (Mrs) Ajay Sareen emphasized on the need to dwell on the importance of renewable energy as it remains non- exhaustible and does not deplete with usage. Worthy chief guest Mr. Rajiv Joshi also inspired students to spread awareness about the use of renewable resources and the need to conserve energy for future generations to sustain on this planet. Vote of thanks was given by Ms. Protima Mander, HOD (History Dept.). Ms. Richa, Ms. Nisha and Ms. Avantika were the event incharges.Technical assistance was provided by Mr. Vidhu Vohra, Mr. Arvind and Mr. Rishabh. The office bearers of school student council also participated in the event.
