Freudian
Psychological Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidylaya, Jalandhar organized a
Webinar cum Workshop in liasion with IIT Rupnagar under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. On this occasion Mr.
Amandeep Singh, Research Project Officer, IIT , Rupnagar was the resource
person. Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head of Psychology Department, welcomed him.
The
speaker Mr. Amandeep Singh talked about Health Risk Behaviours among
Adolescents highlighting the changes in this transitional period. He very
informatively explained the changes in human body, it's impact on physical and
mental health. He emphasized on the role of family , friends and society in
adolescent's life by citing apt examples explained how adolescents involve
themselves in alcohol consumption, drug abuse
leading to failures, depression,
suicide etc. He then gave three
strategies i.e, identifying one's tendencies, tracking behaviour and coping
with triggers to risk behaviour. He did not put aside the influence of social
media , mentioning the punjabi songs concept and the effect it causes on one's
health including mental health. There was an interactive question round at the
end of the workshop where Mr. Amandeep cleared all the doubts of the student
.The faculty members Ms. Anjana, Dr. Venus and Ms. Deepsha also actively
participated in the interaction. All the students of the Psychology Department
participated in the workshop.
