PG Department of
Political Science and Legal Literacy Club celebrated International Human Rights
Day under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The webinar
started with the blessings from the Almighty in the form of Gayatri Mantra.
Officiating
Principal and Dean Academics Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur accorded a warm welcome to the
Chief Guest of the occasion Sh. Jaapinder Singh, Chief Judicial
Megistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Jalandhar. Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur raised a voice
against the violation of Human Rights and urged to protect rights of Women and
Children.
The Webinar was
hosted by Mrs. Alka Sharma, Assistant Professor who commenced by expressing
gratitude towards our Chief Patron Dr. Punam Suri, Padmashree awardee President
DAVCMC & Patron Sh. Shiv Raman Gaur, IAS (Retd.) Director Higher Education
DAVCMC.
The Webinar started with Sh.
Jaapinder Singh’s wonderful insight in to the theme of Human Rights Day 2020 is
to “Recover Better Stand up for Human Rights.” He told about the vision of freedom, justice equality
and highlight the classification of the Human Rights Article. He also talked
about the significance of Human Right Day which was adopted and proclaimed the
General Assembly of the United Nation on 10th December 1948 as the
shared standered yard stick to protect Human Rights across the globe Students
asked questions about how to protect themselves against injustices.
Moving further Retd.
DGP Mr. Rajender Singh associated with Human Rights Organization, Sh. Aman
Mittal, Director Human Rights Organization, Advocate Amrit Paraj and Advocate
Ramji also shared their views on the practical implementation of the Rights.
Dr. Anjana Bhatia,
Head of Botany Department and Dr. Jiwan Devi Asst. Prof. in Political Science
extended the vote of thanks to all those who made this webinar a resounding
success. On this occasion Head of Political Science Department Mrs. Nita Malik
was also present.
