Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a Webinar on “World
Disability Day” under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay
Sareen. The coordinator of the webinar was Dr. Prem Sagar, Head of Department
(Music Vocal) and in association with Saksham Punjab & Red Cross Deaf &
Dumb School, Jalandhar. The Chief Guest of the webinar was Sh. Rahul Sindhu,
IAS, SDM, Jalandhar. The Resource Person was Mr. Dipendra Manocha, Founder
Trustee Saksham, Member Local Committee Sh. Surendra Seth and Tehsildar Sh.
Inderdev Singh were also present.
The webinar started in a traditional way. Principal Prof. Dr.
(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that in present times, disability is not only physical
but mental also which is affecting our society. She told that the Music Department
of the college and Saksham Punjab are working in this direction. They not only
provide education to the girls but also provide talking books to the disabled
students. She thanked President DAVCMC Arya Rattan Dr. Punam Suri for always
encouraging the institute. She said that under the aegis of DAVCMC, a school is
working for disabled students. Trainings have also been given to these students
and laptops have also been provided to them at a very low cost. She also
thanked SDM Rahul Sindhu, IAS for always supporting the institute. Chief Guest
Sh. Rahul Sindhu said that HMV always stands ahead for the good of the society.
Disability is not only physical but mental disability is very dangerous. Every
citizen must get the opportunity for overall growth. Local Committee member Sh.
Surendra Seth also congratulated the institute for this endeavour and said that
such disabled people should be treated with equality and respect. Resource
Person Sh. Devendra Manocha discussed in detail on disability and said that everyone
is disabled, the need is to establish ourselves as “Saksham”. We should try to
maintain such an environment in our society so that everyone can work according
to his/her capacity. We should try to get technical knowledge as well. Km.
Shalini & Km. Saloni presented a Dance performance prepared under the
guidance of Sh. Inderdev Singh (Red Cross School, Deaf & Dumb). HMV’s B.A. (Hons.) student Km. Angel also said that
HMV has always encouraged her to march ahead with positivity.
The moderator of the webinar was Dr. Anjana Bhatia. Webinar
Coordinator Dr. Prem Sagar thanked all the dignatories and said that the
development of these especially abled children is possible only when they get
support from society alongwith their family.
