Celebrating
the day purposefully, the vivacious team HMV IIC organized an interactive
session to mark the World Intellectual Property Day with the benign support of
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and under the coordination of Dr. Anjana
Bhatia, In Charge IIC. The session was organized in collaboration with Panjab
State Council of Science and Technology and Dr. Jatinder Arora, Executive
Director, PSCST presided the session as the Chief Guest. The keynote speaker
was Ms. Divya Kaushik, Scientist, Patent Information Centre, PSCST. The worthy
guests were cordially welcomed by Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur, Dean Academics and HoD,
Commerce. Conveying the wishes of Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen she highlighted the
role and importance of IP in the educational institutions.
Dr. Jatinder Arora apprised the students with the current status of Intellectual property awareness in the country through statistical figures and evidences. She told that much need to be done in the area as the number of patents in the country and specifically Panjab is considerably less. On similar note, Ms. Divya Kaushik motivated the students and academicians to get their ideas patented. She briefed about the complete process of filing and applying for the patents. It can be done at institution level or individually through different agencies or the application can also be submitted online. She said that the PSCST offers complete support to the applicants and imparts the needed information to ease the task. The patenting of Intellectual property comes as a necessity to aid the development and progress of the nation. The session was hosted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia and attended by Dr. Rakhi Mehta, Lt. Sonia Mahendru, Mrs. Alka, Mrs. Lovleen Kaur, Mrs. Navneeta, Dr. Meenakshi Duggal Mehta, Mrs. Protima Mander, Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Ms. Harpreet, Dr. Simmi Garg, Mr. Ashish Chadha, Mr. Rishabh Dhir, Mr. Vidhu Vohra along with the students.
