HMV became the proud host of the Special Olympics,
India-Punjab Chapter in association with S. Ajit Singh Foundation Society under
the encouraging command of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The Chief
Guest of the prestigious occasion were Mr. Himanshu Jain, IAS ADC, Urban
Development, Jalandhar, Major Amit Sareen PCS, Joint Commissioner, MC,
Jalandhar and Mr. Deepak Bali, Advisor Art, Culture and Languages Govt. of
Delhi and consultant Punjabi Academy New Delhi. Welcoming the guests Principal
Dr. Ajay Sareen expressed that HMV which is hailed as the ‘Nursery of Olympians’,
feels honoured to host this unified sports meet. IAS Mr. Himanshu, Jain
appreciated the efforts of HMV and S. Ajit Singh Foundation for organizing this
mega event. Major Amit Sareen and Mr. Deepak Bali also applauded the unique
initiative and congratulated Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen and Dr. Anjana Bhatia,
Dean Innovation and Research for the innovative venture. Mr. Paramjit Singh
Sachdeva, MD, Sachdeva Stocks Pvt. Limited remarked that it was a remarkable
initiative on the part of the college to host this event. Around 250
participants working under National Child Labour Project and Special Athletes
along with 100 sports girls of HMV participated in the event. Special educators
Ms. Navjot Kaur and Ms. Rekha Kashyap from Special Olympics India-Punjab
Chapter spoke about the special children and the need of unified sports meet.
The participants demonstrated their football skills. The participants did not
compete for the games but only played to understand one another and develop the
spirit of sportsmanship. Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur, President S. Ajit Singh
Foundation Society urged that children with disabilities and special needs be
treated as normal children in the society. They need love more than sympathies.
She also thanked HMV for organizing this event successfully. The Sports
Department of HMV played an active role in arranging the sports meet along with
the members of S. Ajit Singh Foundation Society.
