On the fourth day of Vigyaan Sarvatra Pujyate Festival of scope
for all organized under State Nodal Agency : Punjab State Council for Science and Technology,
working models were the main attraction. The theme of the day was Innovation
and Invention. The programme started with DAV Gaan and lighting of the lamp.
Prof. I.S. Dua, Professor of Plant Molecular Biology and Former Chairman,
Department of Botany, Punjab University, Chandigarh presented his expert talk.
His topic was “Appreciate life through Science and Technology.” After Expert
Talk, Still/Working Model Competition was organized. The judges of the competition
were Mrs. Jaswinder, Head of Physics Department, Dayanand Model School, Ms.
Rajinder Kaur, Head of Chemistry Department, Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. Smart School
Nehru Garden, Mrs. Amrit Kaur, S.N. College Banga and Mrs. Monika Khosla, Head Chemistry Department, B.D. Arya College.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed Prof. Dua and said that we are
very fortunate that we all got opportunity to listen to him. The great source
of knowledge is right in front of us and we all are having a great time. Dr.
I.S. Dua addressed the students and said that Science and Technology have completely
changed our lives. He said that the main objective of Science is not to change
the universe but to find the answers of questions related to our subjects. We
should use Science and Technology for the betterment of humanity. He also
showed a PPT to students in which he shared the life history of renowned
Scientists Alfred Nobel, Plato Robert Huk etc. The students were also shown
films depicting the life of Women Scientists like Annamani, Dr. Janki, Mrs.
Kandmuni Ganguly, Chandramukhi etc. The main attractions of this festival are
book fair, film show and poster exhibition and innovation gallery. A still and
working model competition was organized on the occasion in which students from
various schools, colleges and universities displayed 50 Projects and 50 models. Participants presented projects on Hydroelectric
Power Plant, Solar Power Plant, Waste to Wealth, Solar bicycle, eco-friendly
town, Risk of smoking depicting the innovations and inventions of Science. Among
the school students Jiten Sethi and Varnika won first position, Bharat Kalra
won second place, Bhumi, Bhavnesh and Piyush won third position. Among the
college students Sahibpreet and Priyanka won first place, Mansi stood second
and Harleen Kaur and Harleen Kaur Sahanan stood third. Around 700
participants from various institutions
participated in the Science Fair along with 50 senior citizens and Sarpanchs of
various villages, who took a round of the stall. They promised that they would
make their respective villagers aware of the progress in the field of Science.
After this, Sh. Shobanand Das, CEO , National Science Organization delivered a
session of TBI Incubators. He elaborated on the definition of innovation, green
business products and services. He discussed about Hina Lekhi, Richa Kaul,
Rashmi Sinha who have established big business ventures. In the evening session
students participated in the practical insight in to chemical sciences. On this
occasion Conener Mrs. M. Sayal, Coordinators of the event Dr. Neelam Sharma,
Dr. Seema Marwaha and Dr. Anjana Bhatia and other members of the faculty were
also present.
