A
one day DBT sponsored seminar was organized by the Department of Biotechnology
on the topic “Biotechnology in Investigating Gut-Brain Axis” under the able
guidance of worthy Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The Resource Person
for the day was Dr. Gazal Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Food
Science and Technology, IKG Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala. She
explained in her lecture that micro flora of stomach effects the functioning of
brain. She further added the significance of diet components on the growth and
development of bacteria in stomach. She stressed the need to consume probiotics
such as yoghurt, curd etc. and discuss the various brain diseases such as
headache, migrainpain etc. can be prevented by the use of different natural
health supplements. In the end Dr. Jitender Kumar, Head of Biotechnology
Department has given vote of thanks to the worthy guest and others who had helped
in organizing the seminar. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen congratulated the
department and honoured the Resource Person. Faculty members Dr. Anjana Bhatia,
Dr. Harpreet Singh, Ms. Purnima Sharma, Dr. Nitika Arora, Ms. Ramandeep Kaur,
Ms. Harpreet Kaur and Mr. Sumit Sharma were also present on the occasion.
