To keep the educators well-informed
and updated with latest pedagogical skills, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya,
Jalandhar organized a week long Faculty Development Programme under the inspiring support of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay
Sareen. The Resource Person of the second vibrant day of the FDP titled, “Guru
Siddhta- Advances in Teaching and Learning Pedagogies”, Dr. Sandesha Rayapa,
Asstt. Prof. JNU, Delhi was accorded a green welcome by Principal Dr. Ajay
Sareen, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dr. Harpreet
Singh and Mrs. Saloni Sharma. Dr. Sandesha Rayapa is an Asstt. Prof. from
Linguistic Empowerment Cell, JNU. The day began with Lighting of Lamp and
recital of DAV Anthem. Dr. Harpreet
Singh offered a formal introduction to the Resource Person. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen in her welcome note
expressed her delight for having Dr. Sandesha as the Speaker of the day. She
also remarked that such enrichment programmes are a must for the teachers to
keep them well versed with the current requirements. The session initiated with
an ice breaking task to know one another better. Emphasizing on the need of
connecting with the listeners, Dr. Sandesha expounded her views on 21st
Century Life and Communication Skills and Netiquettes through three sessions.
Supported with a number of activities, the lively discourse aimed to make
optimum use of technology in online as well as on site teaching. Dr. Sandesha
told about twelve skills of Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication
Information Technology, Media Literacy, Technology Literature, Flexibility,
Leadership, Initiative, Productivity and Social Skills. She differentiated
between communication and effective communication and gave effective tips on
enhancing the teaching-learning process. She focussed on making the process experiential
and interactive. She also highlighted some points on Academic Writing. Towards
the end Dr. Neelam Sharma read the report of the previous day. The vote of
thanks was presented by Dr. Sakshi. The stage was hosted by Dr. Nitika Kapoor.
