HMV ORGANISED ONE DAY PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC WORKSHOP ON “PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF ANGER”

Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.)
Ajay Sareen, the Freudian Psychological society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha
Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organised a one day workshop on “Prevention and Control
of Anger”. The Resource Person, Ms. Shilpi, Counsellor at Reveal
and Heal, was welcomed by Head of PG Department of Psychology, Dr. Ashmeen Kaur
with a planter and painting by the students of HMV as a token of appreciation.
During the course of the interactive workshop, Ms. Shilpi discussed the key
points of anger and the necessity to manage it successfully. Further, the three
forms of aggression, it’s causes along with the physiological and psychological
conditions were discussed in detail. Anger identification strategies in today’s
youth were also discussed along with coping strategies and control measures
like catharsis and guided visualization. Ms. Shilpi also talked about how
importance and development of self-esteem, self-confidence, good humour and
positive outlook can help curb aggression and also shed light on the journaling
and mindfulness exercises help control aggression. During the event, Principal
Dr. Ajay Sareen also discussed how the ability to control our aggression can be
beneficial from every aspect of an individual’s life and discussed various
coping strategies. During the conclusion, Ms. Shilpi handed out worksheets with
exercises that helped the children identify the sources, causes and strategies
to control their own aggression. Anger management strategies were also
discussed in detail. This workshop was attended by 100 students of various
streams who actively participated and asked queries throughout which were
answered by Ms. Shilpi. On this occasion, faculty members Ms. Harmanjeet Kaur,
Ms. Pragya Sharma and Ms. Shruti Bidani were also present.
