HMV Organized a One Day Workshop on Employability Skills : Road to Success

 



Under the able guidance Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, the PG Department of Psychology of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organised a one day workshop on “Employability Skills : Road to Success”. Mrs. Sangeeta Bhatia, Senior Counsellor, MGN Public School, the Resource Person of the event was welcomed by Head of PG Department of Psychology Dr. Ashmeen Kaur with a planter and a painting by the students of HMV as a token of appreciation.  During the course of workshop Mrs. Sangeeta Bhatia brought up the key differences between the unemployed and the unemployable while discussing the importance of being resourceful and solution oriented. Mrs. Bhatia further added how development of skills is a core element for employability. Stress management skills, interpersonal skills, relationship building skills, adaptability, self-righteousness, importance of being collaborative, communication skills, listening skills and Digital skills were also discussed as the key features of employability. Mrs. Bhatia also shed light on Government measures like Skill India and their role in the employability scenario. During this event Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen talked about how employability skills and their development is the need of the hour, especially in the current pandemic scenario where employment has taken a shift, and how development of these skills can help bring in a change. Dr. Ajay Sareen also commended the PG department of Psychology for keeping the students updated on skill building and employability with vocational courses such as B.Voc and M.Voc Mental Health and Counselling. During the conclusion, Mrs. Bhatia talked about being self-aware with regard to how important it is to realize one’s own potential and tactfully managing emotions. Mrs. Bhatia further discussed multiple intelligence and the role they have at skill building and employability. This interactive workshop was attended by over 100 students from all streams who actively participated and asked queries throughout the event which were answered by Mrs. Bhatia. Ms. Harshita Paul, Secretary and Ms. Mehkash, Joint Secretary, Freudian Psychological Society anchored the entire event gracefully. On this occasion, faculty members Ms. Harmanjeet Kaur, Ms. Pragya Sharma, Ms. Niharika Mazumdar and Ms. Shruti Bidani were also present. Ms. Niharika gave the vote of thanks.
