HMV Celebrated Wildlife Week

 



The Department of Zoology and Environment Club, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, under the able guidance of Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Mrs. Ajay Sareen, celebrated Wildlife Week. The theme of the Wildlife week 2022 was ‘Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration’. Badges of wildlife week in the shape of different animals were prepared and distributed by students. On this occasion an online quiz on conservation of Wildlife was conducted and students enthusiastically participated in it. The Power Point Presentations were also presented by students on the themes related to Wildlife conservation, climate change and its effect on Wildlife. Furthermore informative and beautifully designed Posters and creative slogans prepared by students were also displayed. Besides, students also recited poems related to conserve Wildlife. A virtual trip to Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad was organized for students to introduce them to various wild animals including mammals, reptiles and birds and promote love for animals. Madam Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Mrs. Ajay Sareen appreciated the efforts of Zoology Department and encouraged the students to spread awareness regarding protection of wildlife. Madam Principal alongwith students and faculty members took pledge to work whole-heartedly for conservation of nature and protection of wildlife. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and Head of Zoology Department, elucidated the objectives of celebrating wildlife week observed every year, which was conceptualised by Indian Board of Wild Life (IBWL) in 1952 and emphasised on this year’s theme as a way to draw attention to the conservation status of some of the most critically endangered species of wild fauna and flora.  Dr. Sakshi Verma, Incharge of Environment Club presented vote of thanks and highlighted the role of Environment Club to provide platform for celebrating the important environment related days with the maximum participation of students so as to raise awareness among them regarding the sustainable use of natural resources and implementing the solutions on individual basis to prevent harm to biodiversity and environmental health as a whole. The prize winners were awarded and e-certificates were given to all the participants. Mr. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professor Zoology, was the convener of the event. The stage conduct was done by Ms. Isha Thankur (B.Sc. BT Sem V). Lab attendant Mr. Sachin assisted in making all arrangements for the event.
