Sareen has been elected as President of GNDU Sports Committee (Women).
DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, Local Committee and staff
felicitated the Principal on receiving this honour. She has also held the
prestigious position of President, Hockey Punjab (Women Wing). Principal Dr.
Sareen expressed her thanks and remarked that their target would be to win MAKA
trophy for the university and place our sports on the international calendar.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu also congratulated Dr. Sareen and said
that HMV always owns a major share in winning of MAKA Trophy by Guru Nanak Dev
University. Principal Sareen congratulated the Sports Department saying that
HMV is a distinguished name in the field of sports and the name echoes of a saga
of a number of success stories of Olympians who embellish its glorious journey
of excellence. Aptly acknowledged as a Nursery of Olympians it has nurtured and
groomed players of international repute including the names of Sunita Rani, a
famed athlete and recipient of Padmashri and Arjuna Award, Manjit
Kaur who holds the current National record in 400 meter, Cricketer Harmanpreet
- Arjuna Awardee, Athlete Rajwinder Kaur - Maharaja Ranjit Singh Awardee, Seema
Thapar– Strong woman of India and many more. The institute provides world class
infrastructure in the form of shooting range, international standard swimming
pool, indoor stadium, Gymnasium and sports academies. HMV will strive to
continue with the glorious legacy and groom good sports women for the country.
