Under the able guidance of Principal Prof.
Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, The Freudian Psychological Society of HMV organised a
workshop on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. The Resource Person Ms. Komaldeep
Kaur, Clinical Psychologist, Sahara Psychiatry and De-addiction Hospital,
Bhogpur, was welcomed by Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head of the PG Department of
Psychology with a planter and painting by the students of HMV, as a token of
appreciation. Ms. Komaldeep discussed the basic concepts of Cognitive Behaviour
Therapy, it’s major components and therapeutic validity and applications. She
stressed on how CBT helps discover dysfunctions of thoughts and creates a
balance between behaviour and emotions. Ms. Komaldeep discussed the criterions
of dysfunctional behaviour and how it affects the cognitive processes in
individuals and their core beliefs. She further elaborated on the goals of
therapy and techniques of application such as De-catastrophizing, reattribution
and redefining. On this event Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen also talked about the
importance of behavioral screening and importance of therapeutic approaches
such as CBT as a practice for implementing positive mental health. In the
course of the event Ms. Komaldeep discussed various case histories with
solutions. The event was attended by students from department of Psychology who
actively participated and asked queries. Priyanshu from B.A. Sem 5 anchored the
event. Faculty members Ms. Harpreet, Ms. Shruti, Ms. Vanshika and Ms. Niharika
were also present. Ms. Parul from B. Voc (MHC) Sem 5 gave the vote of thanks .
