National Youth Day was organized by the NSS Department of Hans Raj
Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar. Prof.
Jagmohan Singh, the Nephew of Freedom Fighter Sardar Bhagat Singh, was the Chief
Guest for the occasion. The eve was commenced by lighting the holy lamp.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen presented a planter as a token of love
to the chief guest and welcomed him. Prof. Jagmohan Singh highlighted the
contribution made by Swami Vivekananda and his maternal Uncle Sardar Bhagat
singh. He enlivened us by depicting the struggle of Bhagat Singh and his mates
in imprisonment. In addition to this, he told that Sardar Bhagat singh was not
only a freedom fighter but also a great scholar. Prof. Jagmohan told students
that Sardar Bhagat Singh read approximate 300 books in his life in which most
of them were read in his imprisonment. Moreover, he told the students about the
life of Swami Vivekananda and said that he always inspired the youth for upgradation
of society. He said that books are part and parcel of our life and it is with
the help of books that we can change our thoughts and with thoughts we can
change ourselves and if we change ourselves then the whole world will be
changed by its own. He, further, made
the NSS volunteer aware pertaining to the problems of brain drain and
unemployment in our country and alsosuggested various solutions to come out
from these issues. Programme officer Dr.VeenaAroratold them about seven day NSS
camp organized in the campus and also inspired the NSS volunteers to work hard
and to take part in such sorts of activities with full zeal and gusto. NSS
programme advisor Dr.Anjana Bhatia made the students aware about the huge
personality of Prof. Jagmohan Singh.At the end of the occasion, winners of
poster making, nukkad natak, video presentation and diary writing were given
award by the chief guest. Programme advisor Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Programme
Officer Dr. Veena Arora, Ms. Harmanu Paul, Ms. Bhawana and Mr. Parminder Singh
were given certificates by the chief guest for their active participation in
seven day NSS camp. On this occasion, the stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana
Bhatia and Dr. Meenu Talwar. On this day, Mrs. Nita Malik, Dr.Jyoti Gogia and
Dr. Baljinder Singh were also present.
