The Anti Ragging
Committee of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized Anti Ragging Weak under
the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The whole events
were organized by Dean Students Welfare Ms. Binoo Gupta and team. She told that
Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Essay Writing, Debate Competitions and Screening
of Documentary was organized under this week. UG Commerce student Ms. Kriti
gave a speech to the students and said that we should celebrate this day as
Happy Commendation Day. She said we are proud to be part of reputed institution
HMV where seniors welcome their juniors with open hearts and open arms.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen addressed the audience by saying that
HMV is a Zero-tolerance ragging college. Mentoring Sessions, buddy groups,
fresher parties and resident scholars help in building a cohesive environment
in the college. A poster making and slogan writing competition was organized on
the topic “Ragging Free Campus” and “Evils of Ragging” whose judges were Dr.
Rakhi Mehta and Dr. Neeru Bharti Sharma. 57 students participated out of which
Reeva Sharma got 1st prize in Poster Making Competition, Anjali got
2nd prize and Samriti got 3rd prize. Consolation prize
was given to Jasnoor Kaur. In Slogan Writing Competition, Kiranjot Kaur won 1st
prize, Gurleen got 2nd and Hitashi got 3rd prize.
Samridhi won consolation prize. All the winners were appreciated by Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. On the 2nd day, PG Department of Mass
Communication and Video Production screened a documentary related to anti
ragging. The session commenced with providing by Kriti (UG Final Year students)
followed by two short films in which the consequences of an evil like ragging
were shown to students. Mrs. Rama Sharma, Head of Mass Communication Department
concluded the session by making students aware of ragging and encouraging them
to maintain a cohesive environment at institution. On the 3rd day,
essay writing competition was organized on the topic “Ragging is a social
curse. The judges of the event were Mrs. Ritu Bajaj and Dr. Jyoti Gogia. More
than 30 students participated in this event. Kriti got 1st prize,
Preeti got 2nd prize, Rohini got 3rd prize and Muskan and
Krishma won consolation prize. Mahatma Kalidas Dramatic Club and Commerce Club
of the college organized a Nukkad Natak on the topic,”Ragging –A Curse” to
raise awareness about the detrimental effects of ragging and to promote anti-ragging
culture among culture under the guidance of Dr. Kajal Puri and Mrs. Savita
Mahendru. On this occasion teaching staff members were present there.
