Under the able guidance of Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Freudian Psychological Society along with Drishti
Technology Center (Cell for Physically Challenged Persons) observed World
Disability Day. This year’s theme for International Day of Persons with
Disabilities was “United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with,
and by persons with disabilities”. Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head PG Department of
Psychology delivered a talk to students of HMV Collegiate Senior Secondary
School regarding this sensitive issue.
She talked about the level of sensitivity required to deal with persons
with disabilities. She also emphasized on the values of emotional intelligence,
compassion and empathy. She encouraged students to actively participate in the
activities of Drishti Technology Center (Cell for Physically Challenged
Persons) and Saksham, Punjab. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen said that this day is
observed to promote the full and equal participation of persons with
disabilities and to take action for the inclusion of persons with disabilities
in all aspects of society and development. She added that such events should be
conducted in future also in order to create awareness among the students. Dr.
Seema Marwaha, School Coordinator, Mrs. Arvinder Kaur, Incharge, Ms. Nidhi Sharma from Psychology Department
were also present on this event.
