International Women’s Day Celebrated in HMV


Under the surveillance and the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, and in collaboration with Innovation Cell and Women Empowerment Cell of the college, International Women’s Day was organized in the premises of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. Mrs. Navjot Dhillon and Sh. Inderjit Singh Dhillon were the chief guests for the occasion. Mrs. Kanwaljit Kaur, Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal, Sh. Sukirat Anand, Sh. Jatinder Nijjar, Mrs. Parveen Abrol, Ms. Sonia Virdi, Sh. Jasbir, Mrs. Ramanpreet Kaur founder of the Green Sparrow project made their special appearance on this occasion. As per the HMV tradition, the event was started with lighting the holy lamp and subsequent following the DAV Gaan. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen welcomed all the guests with Green Planters and congratulated them for witnessing and being the part of this memorable International Women’s Day. Further, in her speech, Principal Dr. Sareen told that, in this contemporary time, women are leading in any field of the society. She said, the ideology of society pertaining to the Woman has been changing for some years and the credit for this also goes to the Male members of the society. In addition, Principal Sareen said that their institution is associated with the female education and both male and female teachers teach in this prestigious institution. We do not discriminate between any sex and it is with the assistance of both these sexes that a society uplifts, she added. On this eve, Mrs. Navjot Dhillon released a short film ‘Vihsal’ based on the life of women. Alumni of the college Mrs. Navjot Dhillon gave the slogan “Accept Yourself, World will accept you.” Moreover, she said that it is indispensable for us to educate girls. If we educate them, then they will be conscious about their life and they would be able to change themselves. She also felt gratitude towards the institution for making the female students empowered. Sh. Sukirat Anand told that males should change their thinking toward women and it is only then that a positive change is possible in the society. Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal congratulated the entire team of short movie ‘Vihsal’ and said, this movie would help all women to identify their potentials in them. Mrs. Kanwaljit Kaur also appreciated the efforts made by the team ‘Vihsal’ and said that such sorts of movies can bring a positive change in our society. Sh. Jatinder Nijjar advised girls to remain positive in their life so that they can achieve their goal. On this occasion, supporting staff of the college, Neetu, Charanjit Kaur, Manjit Kaur, Sudesh, and Tania were awarded for their incessant efforts made for the institution. This entire programme became successful because of the tireless efforts of Dr. Anjana Bhatia- overall in-charge, Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda- Convener, Mrs. Protima Mander- Co-convener.
