Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, in collaboration with Saksham Punjab (an NGO
working for the education and all-round development of visually challenged
persons in the region), has been providing continuous support for the
production of books in accessible formats, computer training, and mobility
workshops for the visually challenged community. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.)
Ajay Sareen, taking a new initiative, provided a room with all types of support
to resume ‘Saksham Preparatory School’ in the premises of the institution.
Saksham Punjab, with its vision and mission, trains visually challenged kids to
be integrated into mainstream schools of the city and the region. After
inaugurating the school, the Principal Dr. Sareen, along with Dean of Academics
Dr. Seema Marwaha, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Dean Innovations and
Research Dr. Anjana Bhatia, and Dean College Campus Mr. Gurmeet Singh, visited
the Drishti Technology Centre where they observed the Experience Zone,
developed to display different items useful for the study, daily living skills,
and recreation of the visually challenged community. On this occasion, Dr. Prem
Sagar, Associate Professor & HOD Music Vocal and Mrs. Deepika Sood, General
Secretary Saksham, Punjab briefed the audience about different activities being
executed at the centre for the growth of visually challenged persons. The
Honorable Principal keenly interacted with the kids and the team members of
Saksham Punjab. The establishment of the Saksham Preparatory School at Hans Raj
Mahila Maha Vidyalaya marks a new chapter in providing inclusive education and
comprehensive support to visually challenged students, ensuring their
integration into mainstream society with confidence and competence.
