Hans Raj
Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, in collaboration with Municipal Corporation Jalandhar,
organized ‘Plogging’, a special drive for cleanliness, in Maqsudan Mandi under
the dynamic guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen in order to
preserve the natural beauty of the world.
Addressing the young cadets of NSS and NCC, who geared up themselves
wholeheartedly and enthusiastically in a team of more than one hundred cadets
and took part in creating the awareness in regard to disposal of plastic waste,
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that it is our moral responsibility to
contribute valuably in the National cleanliness campaign initiated by Prime
Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. She emphasized that the purpose of this movement is
to clean the physical environment and it should be extended to clean the
polluted minds and thoughts as well, so that with the shaping of healthy
environment, healthy mindsets can also be formed. Bringing to light the plight
of waste picking children, she motivated the students to realize their
responsibility not for just one day but making it a habit that can bring glory
to the world. Every citizen should move from self to society and fulfill their
duties. She said that DAV organizations are known for their ethical and moral
practices and it is their duty to educate youth about cleanliness. The cadets
under the supervision of Lt. Sonia, Dr. Krishna Sharma and Dr. Sumita gave
their bit to the mother Earth by taking an initiative of making the
surroundings clean believing that small steps taken can make huge impact. The
teams were inspired from Shri Gautam Jain an IAS who motivated and inspired
people to join or engage themselves in creating green and clean
environment. The aim was to spread
awareness in a creative manner such as using banners and slogans so that people
pay attention towards this significant issue. The team was provided masks,
gloves and trash bags for the sanitation purpose. Under the supervision of Lt.
Sonia Mohindru, ANO and NSS Programme Officer Ms. Harmanu the cleaning tasks
were completed effectively. The coordinator of the event was Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
On this occasion, Dr. Veena Arora and Mrs. Purnima were also present.
