HMV Eco Club Honoured as Best Performing College Eco-Club by GNDU under EEP


 

Under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya , Jalandhar, has been recognized as the Best Performing College Eco-Club under the Environment Education Programme (EEP) of Guru Nanak Dev University . The award was presented at a distinguished event presided over by Dr. Shweta Shenoy, Dean of GNDU. The event also featured a workshop for eco-club in-charges from seven districts, organized by the College Development Council of GNDU in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST) and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change. As part of this initiative, 100 eco-clubs were established across colleges affiliated with GNDU, with HMV being commended for its outstanding contributions. The workshop, led by Prof. Dr. Saroj Arora, Dean of the College Development Council, and Dr. Astha Bhatia, Assistant Professor and Programme Coordinator, provided comprehensive guidance on EEP components and the registration process for eco-clubs. Dr. K.S. Bath and Dr. Mandakini Thakur from PSCST reviewed the programme’s progress and conducted informative sessions on eco-club activity reporting. Dr. Anjana Bhatia from HMV, one of the resource persons, facilitated discussions on eco-skills development, waste reuse, entrepreneurship in environmental sustainability, and ideation for EEP activities. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen expressed immense pride in this achievement and congratulated Dr. Anjana Bhatia for her pivotal role as Eco Club Coordinator. He emphasized HMV's unwavering commitment to raising environmental awareness and advancing sustainability efforts. This recognition highlights HMV's dedication to environmental education and leadership, setting a high standard for other institutions in the region.
