Under
the aegis of the DBT Star College scheme, Government of India, Departments of
Biotechnology and Bioinformatics of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised a
guest lecture on “MicroRNA and induced
pluripotent stem cells”. Dr.
Jaspreet Singh, Scientist, Henry Ford Health System, Michigan, USA was the
resource person of the event. Dr. Jaspreet explained about the concept of micro
RNAs and Stem Cells and their applications in developing novel therapeutics for
paediatric brain diseases. He also emphasized on the importance of multi-OMICS
approaches and the vital role of bioinformatics in discovering novel insight
into various biological processes. The story about his journey from Amritsar to
Michigan, USA as Scientist in one of the top research institute in the world
was very inspiring for the student. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen
congratulated the entire organizing committee for taking this initiative to
make students aware about the latest concept of micro RNA based drug
