HMV organized one day workshop on The Role of Academics in Music Education and Research Methodology


 

A one-day workshop on The Role of Academics in Music Education and Research Methodology was organized by the Department of Music Vocal, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. The event aimed to highlight the significance of academic contribution in the field of music and to introduce participants to the fundamentals of research in this discipline. The session commenced with a soulful Saraswati Vandana, invoking the blessings of the Goddess of learning. The workshop featured two insightful sessions conducted by Dr. Ravi Sharma, retired Professor and former Head, Department of Music, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. In the first session, Dr. Sharma discussed The Role of Academics in Music Education, emphasizing the importance of a structured academic framework in nurturing musical talent and preserving traditional knowledge through formal teaching. The second session focused on Research Methodology in Music, where Dr. Sharma elaborated on topic selection, research ethics, and the role of both primary and secondary sources. His practical insights and simplified explanations helped the students understand the academic process involved in music research. The sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from postgraduate and research scholars who raised thoughtful queries and engaged in interactive discussions. The workshop concluded with a formal vote of thanks. The workshop was graced by the presence of faculty members from the Department of Music Vocal Dr. Prem Sagar Head of Music Vocal Department, Ms. Gunjan Kapoor, Mr. Praduman, and Mr. Jasmail, whose active participation enriched the academic atmosphere of the event. Adding to the academic dignity of the occasion, distinguished heads of departments Dr. Mamta, Head, Department of English; Dr. Ashmeen, Head, Department of Psychology; and Dr. Navroop, Head, Department of Punjabi were also present. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen congratulated  the department for the workshop and said that such workshops will inspire the students to become researchers in future.
